Checking in

I haven't really posted a whole lot here...just pictures. Thought I would bring everyone up to date.

I had to have surgery on 3/21/05 for a ruptured disc in my neck. I had been dealing with the pain since last May and finally had to give in to the surgery. I feel it has been a success...the headaches and neck pain are gone.

Today 4/1 was a little scary. I had some bloodwork done that indicated I might have an infection in my incision. I had to go to the hospital for more bloodwork and there was a possibility the surgeon would have to take me back to the OR and open up my incision and clean it out!!! Boy was I scared. Luckily my bloodwork came back Ok and they sent me home. I have to have the bloodwork repeated on Monday but I am already beginning to feel better.

Knitting with the neck brace is getting easier. I think once I am completely healed I will be able to knit with no problems. I get tired right now and the brace is uncomfortable so I don't try to push it too much.

I am getting bored with being home already. I have 4 more weeks to go before I go back to work YIKES!

Tomorrow I am going to a class to learn 2 color-2 handed knitting. I am looking forward to that. I taught myself continental knitting a couple of months ago so I am hoping this class will go well.
I cast on for the pink ribbons sock a few days ago. I got one repeat of the cable pattern finished and about 1/2 of the way through the next repeat. THis is my first attempt at cables and reading a chart so it has been a learning experience. I like the socks so far.

That's all for now.

You'll do great in the class - it's much easier than it looks. I taught a student the other day, but made her do fair isle one handed first so she could see how much easier it is to do two handed. Well worth the tiny bit of struggle in the beginning. I recommend holding the secondary color in your "weaker" hand.

Good luck and have fun!
