I don't know what to make next

I am soon to be out of projects. I am still working on my second MSB. It is about 1/2 done so I will probably finish it this week.

Last spring I bought a bunch of wool at a yard sale. Some people that used to spin their own wool were going out of business. I bought this really preatty blue green heathered wool that is light worsted or maybe DK. I had thoughts of making the cabled yoke sweater from the Handy Book of sweater Patterns. I did a gauge swatch and came up with 6 stitches/inch on size 7 needles. I don't think I want to knit a whole sweater on size 7's! I thought about doing another swatch on 9's and see how I like the fabric. I gave the swatch a quick dunk in a cool bath and it shrunk 1/4" in height! That scared me a little too. And even though I love, love, love the color of the yarn, it is really scratchy and I would at least have to wear a t shirt under it. Which isn't a bad thing but I don't want to spen all that time knitting and then not wear the darn thing!

Whew....I feel better getting that off my chest. Now I am still stuck with the problem of not having another project to start. I want to make a shawl and I am waiting for Scarf Style to arrive so I can possibly start the Lady Eleanor stole.

Maybe I should just take the week off from knitting...It is my last week of before school starts again. Teachers have to be back on next week Thursday but I always start the Monday before they come back to try to get a head start on the computer issues that come up. NAAAH I can't take the week off from knitting...I wouldn't have anything to do except clean the house, do the laundry, do the dishes....NAAHHH ;-)

If you need something to do, I have sleeves for the Ribby Cardi that need to be knitted; I have a sock and a half waiting to be done; You're welcome to start my Eris for me; And lets not forget this silly vest I'm making. Just come on over, I'll put you out of your "I don't know what to knit" misery. *laugh*

One really fun thing to try is the seamless "neck down" sweaters. I found an online calculator:

http://www.knittingfool.com/pages/topdown.cfm

It's so cool. I made a little one for my daughter with two strands of baby yarn(faking the chunky yarn) and pretty big needles, it turned out SO cute and not scratchy at all. I've done a few summer ponchos with baby yarn - (Bernat Baby Coordinates)They are gorgeous! Once you do a seamless sweater it blows your mind b/c it's SO easy and cool.

Anyway, once I get the saxon scarf done, I am either going to try my hand at Fair Isle knitting, or do a cable throw with several of those Celtic Braid cables running parralell. When I got the Knitting on the Edge, I also got The Knitter's Bible and there are lots of cool projects in there for honing skills.

I'll see if I can get a pic of that sweater and send it to you. I felt like a knitting "grown up" after I finished it, I was so proud. =) I've only been knitting for a year and a half or so, but I am already crazy obsessed - it's great therapy, tho.

I hope you find your next project soon - my sister is doing real well on her saxon braid scarf - she's on her 5th repeat, I had to do laundy yesterday so couldn't do much, but I'll start 4th repeat today - later!

I can't help but snicker at you for not wanting to knit a whole sweater on 7s.. The reason is my first (and now second) sweater.. the ribby cardi.. is knitted on 7s.. and it goes by really fast! I did the whole first one in about 3 months.. and about a month of that was waiting to buy a zipper.

I really want to see this blue yarn though..

I did a sweater for my husband on size 9's and thought it took forever...I did another swatch for my sweater on size 9's and after washing it grew! I think I will use the 9's and see how it goes.
