Saxon Braid Scarf

I am making this for my MIL. It is made with Knit Pick's new yarn called Panache. Panache is 40% baby alpaca, 20% cashmere, 20% silk, and 20% extrafine merino. YUM YUM! I would swear it was Debbi Bliss Chunky Cashmerino if I hadn't seen the label myself.

Here is a close up of the pattern...a bit fuzzy...I will see if I can get a better one later :-)

This is my first cable project and I really like it so far. The red yarn you see near the needles is my life line. I decided to thread a piece of yarn through the last row of the repeat so if I mess up during the next repeat I will only have to go back that far. I had messed up earlier and it was a bear trying to uncross the stitches and get them back on the needles in the proper order!

Just wondering where you got the pattern for the Saxon Braid - was it "Knitting on the Edge"? - if so, did you find any typos?

Yes, it is from Knitting on the Edge and there are errata. Check this page:

Hey,
Glad I could help you out. It was driving me crazy when I swatched it and someone on Knitter'r Review (KR ROCKS!) told me about the errata. Once you get past that it really is a fun pattern to do...cabling on every other row...

Let me know how it comes out..I'd love to see a pic!

I am on the 4th repeat - what a great idea by the way about the contrasting yarn through the last repeat row! Why didn't I think of that? I could have used that SO many times!!!! I'll try to get a pic of it later and post it. Maybe in Mica's new blog. Later!

Hi!

April sent me the link to this. What a great idea! I'm almost done with my Saxon braid for my Samus and I'm going to start using your red yarn technique.

Thanks,
Marla
