It's been a while again

I just haven't been in the mood to blog lately. Work is really busy right now and I have been busy knitting.

I finished the Cat's Meow Sweater and I love it! It turned out just as I imagined it. Here are the front and the back

And here a a couple of close up shots. I love the paw pads on the back!

And here is the inspiration for the sweater:

Isn't he just the cutest thing you have ever seen???

I have also started the lace cardigan from Lana Grossa

I have gotten 3 full pattern repeats completed on the left front of the cardigan. I decided to leave out the waist shaping. I want this to be loose and flowing...not shaped. I am using the yarn specified. I could not find it here in the states so I actually ordered it from a lovely shop in Germany. Her name is Angela and her on line shop is located here Her website is on German, but she does converse in English. I was able to place my order by e mail with no problem. Believe it or not, it was actually cheaper to purchase the yarn from Angela in Germany than buying it here, even with the $35 shipping! I did find it online at one shop here in the states and it was more than double the cost! It is an interesting yarn. It is Lana Grossa Gala print. It is new for spring and summer. One of my co workers thought it was twine. It is made of silk and many other things and it is pretty course to begin with. I did wash my swatch and it softened considerably. The pattern is only written for size Small, so for each front half I am adding one repeat of the lace pattern and for the back I will add 1 or 2 repeats. I am not sure what to do with the sleeves, if I have to make the armholes bigger, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Here are a couple pictures of what I have so far:

So that is what I have been up to. Oh, and I made a string bag out of some crochet cotton. I don't have a pic of it but the pattern is here. It came out really cute and I plan to use it when I go to the farmer's market to get some fresh veggies...yum!

The sweater is *almost* as cute as your handsome fella! Great job!

How's the shrug coming along?

Yaaay! the sweater is great, but we really need your head in it for the full affect! hahaha

I love that lace pattern! It's really pretty and great work so far =)

Thanks guys! Jo, the cable shrug is sort of on hold while I am working on the lace cardigan. I won't be able to wear the shrug until fall so I figured I would hold on it for now (how's that for justifying an UFO?)

April...my daughter said I could not wear my sweater in public with her and I think that probably means here too! Can you tell she is a teen? If I get to wear it soon I'll post a pic but it will probably be fall before it is cool enough to wear...

I'm with you, I like the paw pads too! hehee.

I love it when over-seas yarn turns out to be cheaper.. it just makes it that much better.

Very cute cat sweater, Kim! I wish you'd have emailed me. I could have sent the yarn on to you via US Mail. Hope you didn't spend a bundle on shipping. Keep me in mind next time. We're here in Germany for another year.

Duh. Somehow missed the $35 shipping part. Ouch. But it was probably faster than it would have come from me. I also forgot to mention that I have that cardigan on my to do list too. Beautiful, innit?

THanks Jean...I'll keep you in mind next time. This was my first overseas purchase...live and learn right? Even with the $35 shipping it was much less expensive than buying it here. It was $6 USD per ball in Germany and $13 USD per ball here! What's up with that!?!?

Kim,
Love the cardigan, and did find a skein of that yarn in my lys, to try before I order it overaseas.
Love that color (504, right???

Kim said...

Actually this is color 502. I think 504 may have more greenish blue in it. I was going to go with 504 but then decided to go with the color of the original pattern. It actually has more color to it than the color chart or the original pattern showed. It is kind of weird at first, almost like twine but it is getting softer as I knit with it and my washed swatch was much softer

Kim, sorry, it is color 502 that I wanted to do itin, that I have. I am swatching, and yes, strange at first, but loving it. This is the closest thing to lace that I will be doing. Absolutely loving the color and this yarn. Just very unique, and thanks for angelas website. very nice lady. and yes, w/shipping still works out to be 8.50/skein.I hope you don't mind if I ask your help w/the pattern if I need it. sometimes these foreing pattern directions I tend to get a tad confused.

Sure, I'll be glad to help if I can. I have finished the left front and decided to do a sleeve to see how they will fit together. I added a lace repeat to the front, and made the armscye deeper. I added one repeat to the sleeve(7 stitches total) and will probably make the cap 1-2 rows longer to fit the deeper armscye. I am kind of making it up as I go lol
