Lady Eleanor is about 1/4 done. I am using Noro Kureyon #92 and I am not in love with the colors. After I ordered my yarn I saw color # 150 in person and I think I would have liked that color better. I don't like how all the dark colors are on one side and all the light ones on the other but it looks like they are starting to shift a little bit.

Well that's a bummer... but I guess that's the gamble you take with a varigated yarn... I agree though I think it's starting to shift.
Maybe the finished project will endear itself a little better, I hope so, b/c that's a lot of work to chuck. Especially since it's entrelac! I haven't tried that yet, it looks tedious. You seem to do it pretty quickly, tho, I may try it soon b/c of your influence =) I have to admit that looking at the instructions boggles my mind - I'm sure it's one of those things you have to just DO it to understand. p.s. - did u see my boy's sweater? It's coming along yippie!
The more I look at the color changes the more I like it. You have to look at one row at a time to start to understand how they work. Every other row compliments each other. I think it's going to be cooler than you think. - just saying =)
Hi Kim, I just saw your post in the scarf style knitalong and thought I'd pop over here to have a closer look. My own 2 cents worth - I really like how your Lady Eleanor is turning out! I think with Noro yarn, you've got to stick with it to near the end before you can really appreciate the colour variegations.
In fact you've inspired me to maybe try a Lady Eleanor's with some obnoxiously coloured Kureyon (a discontinued colourway) I got from ebay. Must admit if I'd seen it in person I probably wouldn't have bought it! But the entrelac gives a more interesting pattern to the colour changes than typical striping would. (I've been toying with doing Wavy from Knitty with it but that's not looking like such a good idea at the moment!)
I'll look forward to finding out how you like your finished Lady E!
Meg
Thanks Meg,
It is getting better :-)
Hi Kim! You're probably like me, every time you get close to finishing something from Scarf Style you realise the next project in the book looks pretty interesting too. For my Ene's I'm using Grignasco Bambi Extrafine Merino 4-ply (246 yards per 50g) on 3.75mm (US 5)needles (the ball band calls for 3mm (US 2) needles - going up a couple of sizes gives the lace some 'hole'iness). I'm in Australia so maybe that yarn is not widely available where you are - but I love it, it's one of my favourites. So far it seems to be working out well, once I figured out where I went wrong with the first chart! I had been thinking that the repeat area of the chart repeated directly above each previous row - but, due to the decreases at the sides and in the middle, it doesn't. Once I got my head round that it's all been smooth sailing - though I am using a lifeline and keep moving it up every few rows, just for security! Let me know how you go! Meg
