We took a trip to Roanoke, Va over the memorial day weekend. What a beautiful place! This is off the Blue Ridge Parkway and is called the Peaks of Otter. Otter is the name of a stream, I think, and there is a lodge you can stay at here, too. We did not stay there, but stopped to enjoy the scenery. The whole way along the parkway was just beautiful. We went on this trip because we are considering moving there someday. That is, until we saw the price of real estate! Unbelievably expensive. How about this one
for 1.3 MILLION?? Ok, so that is a little our of our price range, but even ranches comparable to what we own now cost twice what we paid for ours. I guess you are paying for the view?!?!
On the knitting scene, I did have several hours in the car to knit. I only knitted for a couple of hours on the sleeve to my Lana Grossa cardigan, because I discovered an error in the way the pattern was written and had to rip out 20 rows! So I was mad at it and did not want to knit on it. I have made a lot of progress since being home. I have completed 1 front, 1 sleeve and about 1/2 of the second front. Here is a picture that shows what a difference blocking lace can make. The one on the left if unblocked, the one on the right is blocked. If you click on the pictures to get a bigger image you might be able to see the difference a little better.
It is amazing how much the lace opened up and smoothed out. And the fabric is much nicer than before blocking. Before blocking, the yarn is pretty crunchy and stiff.
