The knitting is finished

I have finished knitting the lace cardigan from Lana Grossa. It was the model of the month for April. It really was a quick knit, if you don't count the extra time I spent ripping parts of it out and starting over. Here are a few pics, first is a couple of weeks ago, unblocked, and then one with it blocked and a shot of the back as it is drying. It looks a little wonky in that picture but I did straighten it out.

I made a few adjustments to the pattern. It was only written for a size small with a finished chest of 37". That just wasn't going to cut it. I added one lace repeat to each front and 1 to the back and should end up with a finished chest of around 46. THe lace is really stretchy...I may have been able to get away with out adding the repeat to the back but I wanted to be sure. I also left out the bobbles in the pattern. They were supposed to be at the diamond points, and I just didn't want to take the chance of having bobbles end up on ...well....my bobbles :-) Plus I didn't think it would be comfortable to have bobbles poking me in the back all the time as I was sitting in my chair.

I went to my LYS today to buy buttons. I got some pretty pearly cream colored ones. And because I joined the Summer of Stash, I did not buy any yarn. Yay Kim!

Next up is to work on some UFO's. Probably the cabled shrug from IK and maybe the snowflake vest from Knitpicks. Remember that nightmare? I am determined to finish it so I can wear it next fall. I also am making a tessalating fish blanket for Reno.

That's all for now...counting the days until school is done. The kids are done next week Thursday. I orginally had planned to take two weeks off right after the kids were done, but my plans were changed because we are getting a delivery of computers the last week of June. So my schedule looks like this for the summer: Work 1 week, take 3 weeks off, work 2 weeks, take 3 more weeks off and then be back full time the last week of August...sigh...I love being a 10 month employee!

Hi Robknits,
I had considered just adding a repeat to each of the fronts but then was not sure it would be big enough. It actually turned out a little too big. I think you could add just to the fronts. The shoulders would be wider on the fronts, but I don't think that would matter when you seamed it up. I just lined up the armhole edges and stopped at the front edge.

I ended up using just over 10 balls. I have not done the crab stitch edging or button holes yet.

I am re blocking now that it is seamed together because one side stretched a little more than the other. When it is dry again I will post pics of the completed project.
