Switched to the new blogger

I switched to the new blogger several weeks ago but just added a new template. What a pain! My progress tracker no longer works. I used to have the one with the pictures of the projects. It now longer works and I can't figure it out. So I have switched to the percentage bars on the left there, which go well with the new clean template. At least I was able to keep the 3 column layout.

I stopped into New York Knits on Saturday to pick up some sock yarn. I don't like knitting socks but for some reason I have felt compelled to knit socks. I figure they would be a good project to take on the plane, but I don't leave for Florida for 5 weeks yet!!.

Anyway, the owner of NYKnits, Tracie, was in the shop. She said to me "I was just going to call you." When I asked her for what, she said she wanted to know if I would knit samples for the store! How cool is that?!?! She gave me a selection on patterns to knit. I chose a baby sweater and hat and a very simple camisole. She provided the patterns and yarn for the project. I was happy at that but on my way out she said "let me know what I owe you". Not only do I get free yarn to knit with, she will pay me for my time. I have had a couple of people say I should have gotten a written contract for that, but I feel I can trust Tracie. I just have to figure out what to charge. SOmeone suggested $.10 a yard. Not sure how that would work out, i have to do some math.

So, as soon as I finish my mittens, I will cast on for the camisole, It is a simple K2 P2 rib...knit in the round with 2 crocheted straps. I expect to be able to complete that in a weekend. The baby sweater and hat are in a cute color block pattern with a yarn that resembles fixation but is thicker. It is made by Classic Elite and it is called Star.

That's all for now...lets hope I can deal with this new blogger template :-)
