I finished my fair isle cardigan in 15 days! (How's that for some awesom aliteration?) This has to be the fastest sweater I have ever knit. My record before was Samus in a month. I will admit, I had two extra days at home to knit due to the snowdays last week, but even so, I can't believe I knit a whole sweater in just over 2 weeks.
Details:
Pattern: Fair Isle Cardigan from Knit Simple Holiday 2006
Yarn: Lamb's Pride bulky
Needles: Denise and Knitpicks interchangeables
Modifications: This is a real frankenstein of sizes. I knit the size large back and then had second thoughts about the size. I then knit the XL fronts and one sleeve. The sleeve was too big. The second sleeve I knit the L size but added increases to get to the same number of colorwork stitches as the XL. Then I ripped back the MC on the first sleeve and reknit that to a size L.
Here is a close up of the colorwork.
This pattern was written at 4 stitches per inch with a heavy worsted. I was able to get gauge with the bulky but it was tough knitting. The sweater is more like a coat and that is probably how I will wear it.
I have promised my daughter an illusion knit scarf with skulls so that is probably what I will work on now. I may start a pair of mittens for myself. I was thinking of taking the pattern from this cardigan and turning it sideways and making matching mittens....
