I took an on line class from Needlecraft University to learn how to do steeks before I need to cut them into the snowflakes and arrows vest. The project was this cute little sweater to fit a doll or a teddy bear. Here you see Reno jr (as Vicki has named him) wearing it. I couldn't get the real Reno to wear it LOL.
This was a fun class and I think it worked out well to take it on line. THere is an instructor available via e mail and she was very quick to respond to any questions. I think it would be a good idea to know the basics of knitting before taking one of their classes but they do have some rather involved projects like sweaters and lace shawls.

I'm so proud of you! Great job! And now I can "tune in" to your blog and watch your other projects (and help you through any future steeks, though I doubt that's necessary now!)
Wow! That's really cute.. and a great way to experiment with something so... scary...
I would really have to laugh if you got the real Reno to wear that little sweater.. LOL.
Hi Bonnie!
Thanks so much for the class. Glad you found my blog...
I am still nervous about doing the real thing with my vest, but I have several weeks, at least, to work up the nerve.
Kim...I value my hands in one piece too much to try to get the sweater on the real Reno! lol.
GREAT SWEATER!
I'm too jealous. I've been wanting to tackle steeking and have finally ordered the CD from Philosopher's Wool.
One of these days I'm going to actually try it.
Thanks Kimberly. I didn't know Philospher's wool had a cd about steeking...I bet it is a good one...they do a good job with their stuff.
Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be an inordinate number of knitters named Kim???
Hey Kim! I've "tagged" you- don't know if you're into it but if you are, questions are on my blog!
OMG! There is some weird thing going on. Everything that scares the HECK out of me knitting wise, is something you DO quite fearlessly and well. yikes
Steeking is to April as Cold water is to a cat!
The results of it are lovely, but there is just something un-natural about cutting up perfectly good knitting! LOL **shaking in my shoes**
Of course, unlike a cat, all the things that scare me, must be confronted, so ONE DAY, I will STEEK and scare the rest of the weirdos like me!
