Tomorrow I am scheduled to go back to work. I am pretty hesitant but will give it a try. Today I carried my laundry basket downstairs, started the washer and walked back upstairs... what a work out. I was breathless, of course. I made 3 more trips up and down and was pretty wiped out.
This afternoon I had to go to my brother's for my nephew's birthday party. It is about a 25 minute car ride from my house. I was tired out by time I got there, and then had to talk, eat, visit, witch all tires me out. I was back home around 6 ish and have been on the couch since. Just tired, not short of breath, but I am not moving around either.
So, I know I was in denial about this whole PE thing, how serious it was, but I came to terms with that soon after coming home from the hospital. Today I was googling for more info and came to the realization that I must have forgotten anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system! (for those who don't know, I was a nurse for 20 years before I had a change in careers.)
All this time, I have had the circulation backwards. I thought the deoxygenated blood from my body returned to the lungs then went through the heart and back out to my body again. Well, according to what I found today, it is just the opposite. The deoxygenated blood goes through the right atrium, through pulmonary artery, and then to my lungs. If that is the case, the only way those clots could have made it to my lungs is to go through my heart first!! No wonder everyone has been telling me how lucky I am. Why the heck didn't I die, with 2 massive clots going through my heart and ending up in my lungs? According to the CT scan, the clots are at the base of the pulmonary artery and extend into the upper and lower lobes of both lungs...that is huge! Wish I knew the size of them but probably better off if I don't. I would guess they must be 5-10 cm in length, which would be about 2-4 inches. yikes!!!
So wish me luck with work tomorrow..I will probably have to come home and take a nap, if I make it through the whole day...or even if I come home early...naps are good :-)

Very best of luck and take it as easy as you can (naps are excellent). If you are right, those clots were the size of swatches and that is really really freaky.
haha I had a 10cm fallopian tube...when they told me how big it was I was like..omg the size of a swatch! hehe
